About Oscar

Family shaped my story.
Experience shaped my perspective.

I grew up around people who built businesses, showed up for their community, and took care of their families. Those are still important parts of who I am.

My roots

Family is part of
how I see the world.

I was born in Seattle and raised in Puyallup with my parents and two older siblings. My parents still live in the same home where we grew up.

My mom homeschooled me, and much of my childhood centered on family, faith, church, and community. Volunteering, playing baseball from late elementary school through high school, and later taking on leadership with my church's worship team were important parts of those years.

My family, faith, and Mexican, Filipino, and American background are important parts of who I am. So are the relationships I build and the communities I'm part of.

Learning by doing

Growing up around business.
Then building one myself.

My parents owned five espresso and hot dog stands, and I grew up hearing about the businesses my grandfather had started. Entrepreneurship was part of the world around me from an early age.

After high school, I attended community college for about two years before deciding to take a different path. I spent about three and a half years in automotive sales, then started three hot dog stands with friends.

Running those stands taught me about the day to day responsibilities of owning a business, the stress that comes with it, and what it takes to work through difficult decisions with partners. It gave me experience I still draw on today.

I earned my insurance license in 2023. Although I knew about my family's financial services business, I chose to enter the industry independently. I wanted to find my own path and learn the work for myself.

Later, I chose to join Wilshire Group Financial Services. Being part of that family story means a lot to me.

Carrying my family's legacy forward matters to me, as does building relationships through my own work.

The people behind it

Why families matter to me.

I want to understand who depends on you, what you have built, and what you do not want to lose.

Families are the people I most enjoy helping. That understanding of their full situation is where the work begins. My role is to help them understand their options and put protection in place that fits their situation.

Life outside work

Room to disconnect.
Places to recharge.

Some of my week is spent talking with families about protection. Away from work, I love surfing, snowboarding, fishing, hiking, and camping.

Being outdoors is one of the main ways I disconnect, spend time in nature, and recharge. Exploring the Pacific Northwest is a big part of that.

I also love food and finding somewhere new to eat. I'll try almost anything at least once. Time with family and friends matters to me, too.
